(Colchester, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – The former superintedent of schools for the town of Hebron is facing charges.

State police say 63-year-old Eleanor Cruz turned herself in to the Troop K barracks this morning.

Cruz is charged with first degree larceny.

The charges stem from an investigation following a complaint filed by town officials.

Cruz was investigated for questionable credit card expenditures and other expenses during her 7 1/2 years leading the Hebron school district.

Cruz moved on to become superintendent of schools in Plymouth.

She posted bond in the Hebron case and is due in court August 26.
