HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut is conducting a post-election audit of voting in municipal elections that took place in 12 precincts on May 6.

The office of the Secretary of the State began the process Thursday with a public drawing in which the precincts of Griswold town hall and Stonington fire house were randomly selected to conduct the audit.

The Union town hall precinct was selected as an alternate.

The registrars of voters in these precincts now have a week to complete the audit. Results will be submitted for analysis to the University of Connecticut Voting Technology Research Center.

Connecticut, which has used optical scan voting machines since 2007, conducts manual audits of at least 10 percent of voting precincts in all federal, state or municipal elections.
