SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) _ College student Curt Myers made a special delivery this summer, but it wasn’t a pizza with the works.

The 19-year-old from Brookline, Mass., was tasked with picking up Republican Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin at Connecticut’s Bradley International Airport and driving him to the Myers family home outside Boston. That’s where Ryan met with presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Six days later, Romney formally announced his selection of Ryan as his running mate.

Myers is the son of Romney adviser Beth Myers. Sending her to pick up Ryan could have tipped off the media, so the campaign sent a summer staffer _ her son, a sophomore at Union College in Schenectady.

Curt Myers tells the Daily Gazette of Schenectady  that Ryan was “relaxed and down to earth.”
