Starting March 13, the state is closing the parking garage at the state office building at 25 Sigourney Street in Hartford.  A spokesman at the Department of Revenue Services says renovations had been deferred  for some years on the building, built in the mid 1980s,  and when outside consultants and the Department of Construction Services took a look,   they warned of structural issues with the garage which make it unsafe.

State employees,  including  the Department of Revenue Services and Department of Social Services, and visitors who use the six-story, 815-space garage will be directed to nearby surface lots,  and the state will run shuttle buses throughout the day,  with additional shuttles at the beginning and end of the work day.

A spokesman says long-term solutions still are under review.

More Malloy Administration created jobs for unionized construction workers. Fewer jobs for private, non-union workers. Fewer tax dollars remaining in the pockets of taxpayers to create private sector jobs.

Remember this was a give away to Aetna Lowell Weicker, the godfather of the income tax, bought this piece of garbage because Aetna wanted out and NO ONE would buy it
