A New Britain-based heating oil company has closed.  Attorney General George Jepsen says his office has been advised that C.F. Oil on South Main Street in New Britain is in talks to sell the family-owned company.  But Jepsen says customers who run out of oil in the next few days should make arrangements with another company as soon as possible.

Jepsen says the Attorney General’s Office and the Department of Consumer Protection are keeping an eye on the situation,  and advised customers to keep copies of their transactions involving the company.

The C.F. Oil Company website was still posted on Friday,  but telephone calls did not go through.

A representative from C.F. Oil said: “To all my customers we are still in business and never planned on going out. We are merging with Tunxis-Ohrs Oil Company out of Meriden Ct. Due to the bad weather we have been having we were so back up. As of February 7, 2011 we will be back to normal business operations. And we intend to take care of our customers just like we have for 10 years.”
