WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (AP) _ The state Labor Department says Connecticut lost private sector jobs in September, reversing course after several months of growth.
The total number of jobs fell to 1.61 million from nearly 1.62 million in August. State labor officials said Thursday that the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 9.1 percent.
Nationally, the unemployment rate in September was 9.6 percent.
In September, the largest jobs loss in Connecticut was in educational and health services, down 3,200 jobs. Trade, transportation and utilities were down 2,500 jobs. Smaller losses were posted in construction, financial activities and manufacturing.
