The Department of Consumer Protection says some Connecticut consumers may have purchased propane gas which does not have enough scent added to alert them to a leak.  Commissioner Jerry Farrell says  16 Conneticut distributors who deliver to residential and commercial customers and refilling stations received propane from the Massachusetts facility where the odor problem started.

The department  says the lack of the odor additive itself is not dangerous — but the concern is that without it,  consumers won’t recognize there’s a leak.    Farrell  says those using piped propane in the home should check with their distributor to see if the delivery is part of the affected supply,  or call the New England Propane Gas Association, which has set up a contact number, 1-888-445-1075.
