If you’re not riding high on the World Wide Web wave, then you better get yourself to a computer class fast. In Connecticut, that’s easy to do because there are so many outstanding colleges and universities. There are also technological institutes that feature computer classes. Here are five for you to consider. Keep in mind that most schools have online, weekend and evening classes. Tuition costs vary and are not always based on the current semester. What most people are not aware of is that you can take computer classes at these colleges for credits towards an associate’s degree or take them as non-credit courses. According to the price chart for Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury, one will find that a three-credit computer course will cost a little under $500 for state residents. Computer courses range from basic to advanced and senior citizens get a special deal. For those over the age of 62, classes are for free. These fine schools waive tuition for senior citizens, but that does not include costs for books or special supplies for a course.

There are four outstanding state universities in Connecticut. Southern, Eastern, Central and Western Connecticut State Colleges. Computer courses at these schools are more extensive because these are four-year colleges. You can even major in Computer Science at these schools. Courses range from Computer Science I to Advanced Topics in Programming with JAVA. There are also special deals for senior citizens.

Best known for its online, weekends and evening courses, one can earn a B.S. in Computer Information Systems with concentrations such as Database and Software Development Management. According to the university’s tuition prices for 2013, a part-time student would pay $875 per credit. Special rates apply for military, seniors and full-time students.

There are four locations in Connecticut for this career-oriented institute. They are Branford, Southington, Danbury and Windsor.
