Cassandra Ventura is a Connecticut-born singer-writer, recording artist, model, dancer and actress, all at the tender age of 26. This rising young hip-hop and R&B singer recorded her first album with two major hits at the age of 20. She writes many of the songs she sings. She signed up with Ryan Leslie’s music-media company, NextSelection Lifestyle Group, for her first single. She then brought about the partnership of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Bad Boy Records with NextSelection for the release of her album “Cassie” in August 2006. Her second album will be released in 2013. With her ability to attract big names with her talent, she made a short appearance in R&B singer Mario’s “Just a Friend 2002” music video at the age of 15. Through the course of her career, other famous collaborations include Kanye West and Pharrell Williams, Seven and LV, as well as Diddy himself. Others include Akon, The Neptunes, Danja, Eric Hudson, The Surf Club and Rob Holiday and Nicki Minaj.
The Glamour Girls
“The Region’s Premier Retro Girl-Group Dance Band” was founded in 2000, and is the go-to favorite entertainment at different events throughout the upper East Coast region. With their repertoire of popular dance hits from the 40s through the 80s, The Glamour Girls transform each event into a vibrating experience. The talented girls — Ginger, Vanessa and Racquel — with their seven-piece ensemble keep toes tapping and feet tripping all night long. Their show is marked with glamorous costume changes, intricate choreography and the selection of music ranges from the swing of the 40s to the Sock Hop and the Motown/Soul era of the early 60s. The disco dance hits of the 70s lead to the pop/rock chart-toppers of the 80s and 90s. The artists they favor include Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Andrews Sisters, The Bangles, Gloria Gaynor, Madonna, Aretha Franklin, Sister Sledge and The B-52s, among others.

Desirée Apolonio Bassett, born in 1992, has been active in the music scene since 2003 and was named “Best Musician” by Talent America in 2005. A true child prodigy, she has released two recorded albums and performed repeatedly across the country. Guitarist, singer and songwriter, her genres are hard rock, R&B, blues and pop. Possessing her own independent label, Desirée Bassett LLC, and her own band, Desirée and the Time Machine, she has performed with mainstream performers like Sammy Hagar, Living Color, Ted Nugent, the Marshall Tucker Band, the Allman Brothers Band and Barry Goudreau.

Founded in 1977, this successful mix of talents and backgrounds has a unique, identifiable vibe. Calling themselves a “piano soul collective,” their sound is a mixture rock, pop, soul and jazz. Currently, they are nominees for Best Singer Songwriter for The Grand Band Slam 2012 Hartford CT. The band is influenced by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Madonna, Led Zeppelin, Massive Attack, Fiona Apple, Bjork, Ben Folds and Blondie, to name a few. Jennifer herself delivers the lyrics, vocals and piano and is backed up on drums, bass and guitar. The group’s record label is called SLING SLANG RECORDS. Her solo work is a mélange of spirited piano pieces and pensive melodies with lyrics based on the strength needed to endure love, life and loss.
