Q: Hi Ty! Great ride. Let’s start with our location. What are we doing here at Lighthouse Point?
A: I like coming here to be just by the water. I mean, water calms me. You know, after a hard day of work or just a chance to get away from life. It’s good to just kind of relax out here.
Q: I couldn’t agree more. And now to your ride. What can you tell us about it?
A: I have had the Jetta for gosh, almost ten years? This car has last me longer than any other car I’ve owned. I’ve taken many, many road trips to Boston, to New York, to Rhode Island, to Pennsylvania, to Maine. I’ve definitely enjoyed driving it and it’s a dependable vehicle.
Q: What do you like most about driving it?
A: I enjoy playing music. This car, like many Volkswagen cars, has like, 17 speakers, like surround. It also has a monsoon bass, thingy. It’s like a sound system pretty much. I like old school. I mean, I’m 28, so I grew up with like TLC and Biggie Smalls and Monica and Brandy and all that stuff. I like all kinds of music, except country. I don’t really get into country that much.
Q: I hear you there. What kind of trips do you normally take?
A: My main purpose in going on trips is to visit friends. I have friends all over so I will go to Boston, Providence, New York City, Maine. Pretty much around this area. I’m not one to drive that far, farther than Pennsylvania, because I get a little antsy and crazy during long drives.
Q: Did you buy the car yourself?
A: I bought the car from a college student in Quincy, Massachusetts. I found her on Craigslist, so I guess I call my car a Craigslist deal.
Q: Craigslist was around 10 years ago?
A: Yup. Daddy Dearest bought the car for her as a present for college and just as she was about to finish college, her dad was going to present her with a brand new car. So, I bought this car, one owner, at 40,000 miles for ten grand.
Q: Finally, what’s your absolute favorite thing about your ride?
A: I love the color of my car. There’s something about red cars that I love because it stands out. It’s a good red.
