Q: Hi Mackie! Thank you for participating in Defend Your Ride Connecticut. Great car. Love the Infiniti. Why did you buy it? Was it just time for a new car?
A: My husband had a car accident with his Infiniti, so he took my Toyota and I got the new Infiniti.
Q: So that was sort of a beneficial result from a not so ideal situation?
A: Absolutely because I got the new car with all the bells and whistles!
Q: What kind of bells and whistles does it have?
A: I have Bluetooth, air-conditioned seats. I have heated seats. I always had heated seats in the Toyota.
Q: How do air conditioned seats work?
A: I don’t know. You just turn the knob to left and it’s cool. Turn the knob to the right and it’s hot. <laughs>
Q: How is the Bluetooth? Do you use that feature much?
A: It stinks. Nobody can understand a word I say when I’m using my Bluetooth. But they are going to fix it because we just got a letter saying they are going to improve it!
Q: If you’re not talking on your phone in your car, are you listening to music? What kind do you prefer?
A: Everything. I listen to all kinds of music. I love hip hop music. I like country music. I like Top 40. I’ll just surf around for stations.
Q: How long have you had this car?
A: Since May. This is our third Infiniti. We love Infinitis and we love the Infiniti dealership. They’re great. Although, I love my Toyota. I have a Toyota Hybrid, but you know, I love the Infiniti. It’s beautiful.
Q: It’s very nice. What’s the most extensive trip you’ve taken in this car?
A: Probably to Boston.
Q: What did you do in Boston?
A: Visit family.
Q: You didn’t have to deal with any parking or anything?
A: No, because we don’t go into Boston Proper. We go into Natick, the outside areas, Framingham. That area.
Q: Gotcha. So it seems you’re not much of an SUV kind of person. You’re more of a car person?
A: I thought Bobby [Mackie’s husband] should get an SUV because he’s a salesman. He keeps so much supplies in his car. But he doesn’t like driving an SUV. He likes driving a car.
Q: And you’re the same?
A: I didn’t need an SUV.
Q: Why did you go with this color?
A: I didn’t want dark. I thought it was pretty. It’s like a silver color. I would have looked at the white one, but I don’t remember what they had available that we could get because we needed a car rather soon. But I just think it’s a really pretty silver.
Q: Is it a guy or a girl car?
A: Oh, it’s definitely a girl car.
Q: Why is it definitely a girl car?
A: Because I drive it! Because I don’t have any problems with it, therefore, it’s a girl car! <laughs>
Q: Where do you normally drive it?
A: Mostly city driving, New Haven, the gym, the supermarket, meetings. I park it the garage. Bob stays outside.
Q: Because his car doesn’t matter?
A: Doesn’t matter! I always get the garage. I always seem to have the newer car.
Q: Do you let anyone else ever drive your car?
A: Just Bob.
Q: Well, it’s nice that you trust him to.
A: Especially after he had two accidents in six months. But if one of my friends was here, and needed a car, I’d let him drive it.
Q: Let’s talk a little bit about the surroundings. This is obviously where you live?
A: I live on a culdesac, but it’s really pretty. The grounds are very pretty. It’s very quiet. It’s close to everything–close to 91, close to the Merrit, close to the town of Hamden. It’s only a five-minute drive to get to wherever I need to go.
Q: Anything you’d like to add about the car?
A: No, it’s really a comfortable driving car. I could drive that car and just keep driving and be very comfortable in it.
