Family-owned pizzeria Harry’s Pizza offers upscale, authentic Neapolitan pizza that is some of the best pizza in Connecticut. It’s this traditional fare that people come all over for. The thin- crust, Neapolitan gourmet pizza has traditional elements as well as fresh vegetables, if you want. Harry’s also uses local, organic, native tomatoes and fresh basil. Harry’s has won several awards for its pizza from Hartford Advocate and Hartford Magazine.

Another Harry’s in West Hartford – Harry’s Bishop’s Corner Pizza – has also routinely been voted Best Pizza in Hartford by Hartford Magazine in 2010 and 2008. South Whitney Pizza Restaurant is also a favorite among the college crowd because they offer free delivery, seven days a week, with a minimum order of $7.

You can’t talk about Connecticut pizza without talking about Pepe’s in New Haven. And not only is Pepe’s one of the best in Connecticut, it’s one of the best in the country. New Haven is home to some of the best pizza and Pepe’s tops the list. The original one on Wooster Street has been around since 1925 and has expanded its business to areas throughout Connecticut. It’s classic, New Haven-style thin crust pizza with just pies and salad on the menu. An assorted list of toppings comes along with a few specialty pies. Open seven days a week with Monday through Saturday hours from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday hours from noon to 10 p.m.

If you’re talking about Pepe’s you’ve got to talk about Sally’s, located on the same street, minutes away. This New Haven pizza staple has been around since 1938 and has brought customers fresh, handmade pizza for years upon years. Made in a coal-fired oven, everyone from locals to celebrities have eaten at this famous establishment. It’s an old school-type place, featuring some lengthy waits to be seated as well as at times, some waiting to get pizza, but the experience is worth the time. Take out is available and credit cards are not accepted. Hours are: Monday: Closed; Tuesday – Saturday: 5 to 10:30 p.m.; Sunday: 5 to 10 p.m. Closed for select vacation weeks in February and December.
