New Year’s Eve is definitely one of the most fun nights of the entire year, but more and more people are choosing to stay home for New Year’s instead of going to parties because of safety concerns on the road. Some hotels in Connecticut offer great New Year’s Eve packages where you can still enjoy an evening of fun ringing in 2012, without having to worry about getting into your car at the end of the night. Here are a few of our picks for the Best New Year’s Eve getaways in Connecticut.

If you really want to go all out and splurge this New Year’s Eve, then look no further than the Winvian resort in the Litchfield Hills.

The New Year’s Eve celebration at the Water’s Edge Resort and Spa really gives you a lot of bang for your buck, and fits almost any budget.

Couples who want to get home in time to watch the ball drop on TV can book an early dinner at either 5:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. and enjoy a gourmet menu before spending the rest of their night with Dick Clark. The dinner rate is $55 per person.

For those who want to party until midnight or later, the Water’s Edge Resort and Spa offers a Dinner Dance Party, which begins with a welcome reception at 7:00 p.m. featuring and open bar and hors d’oeuvres. Dinner is then served from 8:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., and then the party continues with live entertainment until 1:30 a.m. There is also a champagne toast at midnight. Rates for the Dinner/Dance Party are $132 per person.

Overnight packages at the Water’s Edge include all of the above, plus brunch for two and start at $499 per couple.
