Once a favorite hangout spot of Jodie Foster, The Anchor has a college town dive bar reputation with a nautical theme. With cheap beers and a college-age demographic, The Anchor hosts trivia night. However, most of the time, patrons are content with the jukebox and good company.

After 76 years, Rudy’s Bar and Grill relocated from its original address at 372 Elm Street and to 1227 Chapel Street. Having replaced a former Indian vegan restaurant, Rudy’s now occupies three rooms, in addition to two adjacent spaces. Although the décor may be a bit more refined in comparison to its original weathered charm, some patrons have remained loyal, despite the address change.

Awarded ‘Best Bar’ for Best of Stamford 2011, Butterfield 8 describes itself as a “full service restaurant with [a] upscale bar scene and lounge area.” Although some people don’t care for Butterfield 8’s simple aesthesis and upscale-inclinations, many patrons appreciate the mixed atmosphere, friendly staff, and strong drinks. Perhaps all this ritzy establishment needs is an invading army of yuletide-loving Santas?
