Thomas, Melinfonwu Named To All Conference TeamsIn an otherwise disappointing season, there were a couple of bright spots for the UConn football team this year.
Joe D’s Notebook: After The Tulane GameIt was more of the same for the UConn football team in their season finale Saturday against Tulane. The only difference was it came against a team that came into the game with six straight losses, making the 38-13 drubbing by the Green Wave even tougher to swallow.

Joe D’s Notebook: The Temple RecapRight now, the Huskies world is anything but perfect.
Joe D's Notebook: The ECU Recaphat now? That’s the question many UConn football fans are asking after Saturday’s embarrassing 41-3 loss at East Carolina, an East Carolina team that had lost five straight. The fact the Pirates won shouldn’t be surprising despite their recent struggles. UConn entered the game just 2-12 on the road in the last three years. But it was the dominant way the Pirates won, that has many residents of Husky Nation shaking their head.

Joe D's Notebook: The Cincy Recaphe UConn Huskies picked the perfect time to play their best game of the season Saturday. Not perfect by any stretch but certainly good enough to beat Cincinnati 20-9 for the Huskies first AAC win of the season. There was a lot to like about this one, not the least of which was the performance of the defense in the second quarter. Three times the Bearcats had the ball in the red zone and three times UConn held them to field goals. It’s a lot easier to come back from 9-0 down rather than
Joe D's Notebook: The Houston RecapFor the better part of 12 ½ minutes on Thursday night, the UConn Huskies played the 6th ranked football team in the country dead even. The Huskies managed three first downs, held Houston to one and forced a three and an out on the Cougars second possession. But then reality kicked in. Joe D's Notebook: The Virginia RecapA win is a win. Team sports are not figure skating or synchronized swimming. There are no style points. And so UConn’s narrow 13-10 win over Virginia carries the same value as a 45-10 win would be. It goes in the all-important left column in the standings. UConn again had to play from behind and yes, that’s a disturbing trend. In fact, in their three games, the Huskies have led for only 10
5 Biggest Gut-Punch Losses in UConn HistoryAs exhilarating as Saturday's comeback was, it made UConn's defeat hurt that much more. In the still-short FBS history of UConn football, it joins the ranks of these games as the biggest gut-punch losses ever.
Joe D's Notebook: Navy - The RecapThere aren’t more stirring sights in college athletics than when the Brigade of Midshipmen march into Navy Marine Corps Stadium prior to a Navy home football game. It is truly one of the greatest traditions in sports. And there wasn’t a more gut wrenching sight than the UConn locker room after their heartbreaking 28-24 loss to the Midshipmen on Saturday. I can’t remember a more devastated group of players who put forth a superb effort only to come a half yard short of a signature win.
