Gov. Dannel Malloy has issued a statement regarding the earthquake felt less than an hour ago in Connecticut, which lead to many building evacuations statewide.
A substantial earthquake rumbled through greater Hartford– and much of the Eastern Seaboard– this afternoon just before 2pm. The quake rattled buildings for over 5 seconds before subsiding.
In a victory for East Hartford-based Pratt Whitney Aircraft, which makes the main engine for the military’s F-35 fighter, the Pentagon has notified General Electric that it has terminated GE’s contract for an alternative engine.
Boeing, with engines by Connecticut-based Pratt and Whitney is the winner of the Pentagon contract for a new air refueling military tanker.
