The Minnesota Vikings have a long tradition of having very good defensive tackles. They drafted Sharrif Floyd in the first round of the 2013 draft in hopes that he can continue the trend. He learned a lot of from former teammate Kevin Williams and slimmed down in the offseason to reach his full potential. This season should be the beginning of the Floyd era in Minnesota.
Let’s take a look at who the five worst teams will be heading into the 2014 NFL season.

Josh Freeman’s debut as a Viking was the boost that the New York Football Giants needed as the G-men snapped their six game losing streak with a 23-7 victory over Minnesota. New York’s initial victory of the 2013 campaign was not a thing of beauty, but the Giants were able to hold Adrian Peterson to a mere 28 yards rushing, requiring Freeman to raise the level of his play to a level that the league had not seen in several years. Freeman was not able to come through; completing only 38 percent of his passes on the evening.
The New York Giants (0-6) quest for their first victory of the regular season continues on Monday night, as the team plays host to the Minnesota Vikings (1-4) at the Meadowlands. New York has had a solid ten days off after their 27-21 defeat to the hands of the Chicago Bears, but the time off may not have helped their injury situation. The Vikings got run out of their own building on Sunday, losing 35-10 to the Carolina Panthers, and have designated recently signed quarterback Josh Freeman as their starter against the G-men.
The executives at ESPN cannot be happy that their Monday Night prime time tilt matches two teams with a combined one win. The Minnesota Vikings topped the Pittsburgh Steelers 34-27 in London two weeks ago, but reverted back to old ways in a 35-10 rout at the hands of the Carolina Panthers last Sunday. The New York Giants lost their sixth straight contest by falling to the Chicago Bears, 27-21, on Thursday night, dropping Big Blue to 0-6 on the season.
The Minnesota Vikings traded away four draft picks to move to select Cordarrelle Patterson in the first round. Patterson has already impressed the Vikings coaching staff with his learning ability, speed, size and athleticism. The former Tennessee Volunteer could play a few different roles for the Vikings as a rookie in 2013.
