The death of the Big East as we know it hit home last week as 14 teams arrived at the World’s Most Famous Arena (Connecticut was ineligible). Next season, the “Catholic 7” will be reportedly joined by Butler, Creighton, and Xavier in a basketball-only conference that has paid to keep the Big East name.
Breanna Stewart scored 21 points to lead a balanced offense and No. 3 Connecticut bounced back from its loss to Notre Dame with a 94-61 win over DePaul in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament Sunday night.
Napier scored 28 points, Ryan Boatright and Omar Calhoun added 17 apiece, and Connecticut beat DePaul 81-69 on Saturday night.
