Giants Pride Perseveres, Knock Lions Out Of Playoffs In OT

Coming off an embarrassing home shutout against the Seattle Seahawks last week, no one knew what to expect from the New York Giants this week. But New York hung on through a second-half swoon, and Big Blue defeated the Detroit Lions 23-20 in overtime at Ford Field.

Giants’ Cruz Has Knee Surgery, Ruled Out Against Lions

The New York Football Giants increased an already lengthy injury list by adding star receiver Victor Cruz to the walking wounded this week. The Detroit Lions are crossing their fingers that All Pro receiver Calvin Johnson and leading tackler DeAndre Levy can suit up against New York.

Tale Of The Tape: New York Giants At Detroit Lions

While the Giants and Lions first played in 1934, these two teams rarely get together. This will be their second meeting in Detroit since 1997.

Giants Travel To Detroit To Face Playoff Hungry Lions

Fresh off their latest debacle, a 23-0 loss to the Seattle Seahawks at the Meadowlands, the New York Giants travel to Detroit for a matchup with playoff desperate Lions. Detroit is fighting it out with the Chicago Bears to secure first place in the competitive NFC north division, so the Lions cannot afford to take a win over the deflated Giants for granted.

Manning Throws 5 Interceptions, Seattle Dismantles New York 23-0

The Seattle Seahawks came to the Big Apple looking to maintain its position as the top seed in the NFC playoff hunt. The New York Giants had very little to play for, since they were eliminated from playoff contention last week. Seattle dominated New York defensively and shut out the G-men, 23-0, in a lackluster affair at MetLife Stadium.

Jacobs Goes To IR, JPP Remains Out As Giants Tackle Seahawks

New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has endured a season that he would like to forget, and the former All-Pro defensive end will miss his third straight contest with an injured shoulder this week. The G-men also placed veteran running back Brandon Jacobs on injured reserve on Wednesday, ending his season. The visiting Seattle Seahawks will be missing starting linebacker K.J. Wright as they seek to cement the top seed in the NFC playoffs.

Pete Carroll is never going to talk about it publicly, but he wants his players to get used to their surroundings in this game because he hopes to return in less than two month when the Super Bowl is contested at MetLife Stadium.

Giants Pride Will Be Put To Test By Visiting Seahawks

Maybe the New York Football Giants are not used to playing the role of spoiler, but that’s all they have left after an uninspired loss to the San Diego Chargers signaled the death knell for the team’s 2013 playoff chances. Now the visiting Seattle Seahawks come to town, looking to cement the first overall seed in the NFC, and hopefully a return trip to MetLife Stadium in February.

Chargers Knock Giants Out Of Playoff Contention

To say that the New York Giants have had an inconsistent season is to be kind. In fact, at times, New York has performed downright poorly, as penalties and poor execution have plagued the G-men all year. Not surprisingly, these same themes reared their ugly head as Big Blue fell to the San Diego Chargers 37-14 on Sunday. Coupled with wins by the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers, the loss dropped New York out of playoff contention.
