(NEW BRITAIN,Conn./WTIC News)– State Police have released the name of the man killed when New Britain police officers opened fire on a car they were attempting to stop on Chapman Street Thursday night.20 year old Zoe Dowdell of Bloomfield died and two others in the car survived.Police were investigating a string of violent carjackings and robberies in the region.Investigators say the officers opened fire when the vehicle was driven at them. No New Britain police officers were injured.

The two others in the car are facing narcotics charges, 18 year old Noah Young of Bloomfield and a 15 year old boy.The juvenile also faces firearms charges.

State Police are continuing to investigate.
