New Haven Man Charged With Attacking Hotel Housekeeper

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – A New Haven man is under arrest on charges that he sexually assaulted and choked a hotel housekeeper in West Haven Monday.

Police say Paul Stephen Lake, 22, requested cleaning service for his room at the Best Western on Sawmill Road. When a maid arrived and began her work, Lake allegedly came up behind her and grabbed her breasts. Police say the two struggled as Lake continued to grope and grab the woman, and also put his hands around her neck and over her mouth in an attempt to quiet her screams.

The woman was able to free herself and run from the room, said police.

Lake is charged with unlawful restraint, third-degree sexual assault, strangulation, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
