Girl Hit By Vehicle In Manchester

(Manchester, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Manchester police say a 12-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle this morning as she attempted to cross a street in town.

Investigators say the accident occurred just before 8 a.m.

The 12-year-old was struck as she crossed East Middle Turnpike at Brookfield Street.

Police say witnesses told them she darted into the road prior to being hit and was not in the marked crosswalk.

The driver was going through the intersection and had a green light at the time, police said.

The girl was transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford for treatment of a non-life threatening leg injury and is in stable condition, according to police.

The driver was not injured and is cooperating in the investigation.

Manchester Police ask anyone who witnessed the accident to give them a call.
