Child Abuse Arrest

(PLAINVILLE,Conn./CBS Connecticut)  –  Plainville Police have arrested  a  local man following an investigation into alleged child abuse.Police received information October 6  from a woman who believed her live-in boyfriend was abusing her  2 year old son.

Early in the investigation officers saw bruises on the child’s face, head, hips and genitalia.An examination by the  Suspected Child Abuse  and neglect  Program at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center concluded the bruising  was consistent with child abuse.

Tuesday  20 year old Jacob Matthews  was arrested without incident during a traffic stop. he is charged with  Risk of Injury to a Minor,Cruelty to persons, Assault in the   3rd Degree and Disorderly Conduct.He  being held on a $75,000 court set bond for a Wednesday appearance in Bristol Superior Court.

The victim is  currently in the care of the Department of Children and Families.
