(Hartford, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Officials say this year’s Travelers Championship golf tournament generated $2.8 million dollars for charity.
That’s the highest amount in the history of the tournament.
Since becoming the title sponsor nearly a decade ago, Travelers has raised over $13 million, benefiting more than 600 charities.
This year’s record amount was boosted by the $1.3 million raised from the Bruce Edwards Foundation Benefit Dinner.
The primary beneficiary this year was the ALS Clinic at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain.
Preparation is already underway for next year’s tournament, scheduled for June 19-25.
