EAST WINDSOR (CBS Connecticut) – Two additional towns hope to be considered for the joint casino venture with the state’s federally-recognized Native American tribes.  Along with East Hartford, Hartford and Windsor Locks, South Windsor and East Windsor have joined the process.

East Windsor First Selectman Bob Maynard says they have a site in mind. “The prior proposal was south of Exit 44, but our current proposal is the old Showcase Cinemas site, which is just off of Exit 45, and lies between Exits 44 and 45 on I-91.

The Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes want to build a casino to blunt competition from MGM’s facility, currently planned for a 2018 opening in Springfield, Massachusetts.
