WATERTOWN, Conn. (AP) _ A Watertown High School teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting students.
Police say they arrested 61-year-old Stanley Mikrut of Southbury on Friday and charged him with fourth-degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct.

The arrest, police say, stems from allegations that Mikrut inappropriately touched two Watertown High School students between November of 2015 and June of 2016.

Mikrut, who has been a teacher in the district for 15 years was was released after posting $25,000 bond. He is due in court on October 18.

A woman who answered the phone a number listed for Mikrut hung up when asked if he would comment on the arrest.
