Three Arrested In Brick-Throwing Death; Fourth Suspect Sought

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CBS Connecticut and AP) – Police in Bridgeport have arrested three city residents in connection with the death of a 41-year-old man who was struck by a thrown brick.

Police say 33-year-old Anthony Martinez, 41-year-old Mari Vargas, and 28-year-old Christopher Fonseca were charged with first-degree murder in the July 16 death of Edy Morales.  Police are seeking a fourth suspect, 29-year-old Jonathan Dejesus, who also faces a manslaughter charge.

Investigators say a group of people on Jane Street that threw objects at a Jeep Cherokee.

A brick smashed through the front passenger side window of the Jeep and struck Morales in the head. After having trouble breathing, Morales was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead.

Police said the suspects were identified on surveillance video and when questioned told detectives that the occupants of the vehicle had been disrespectful to them.
