MONTVILLE, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – Some 600 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from a backup generator at a Norwich Public Utilities water treatment plant in Montville Saturday.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says the spill was largely contained and the rest of the diesel was being recovered through soil excavation. There is no threat to drinking water supplies, said officials.
A contractor was called in to clean up the spill. Work continued Saturday afternoon.
