(Middletown, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – A MIddletown woman is facing charges after police say she left her 12-year-old son out in the rain on Monday.
Officers were called by 35-year-old Tamika Jackson to her Front Street home, saying her son was being uncooperative and refusing to go to school that morning.
Police found the child standing near the backdoor of the residence, where he said he’d been for between 20 and 25 minutes.
An officer says while speaking to Jackson on the phone, she became uncooperative and told them she had an appointment.
When told she simply could not leave her son in the rain without access to a phone or food, police say Jackson told them he’d be alright and that he should go to a neighbor’s house if he needed anything.
She now faces charges of risk of injury to a minor and is now free on $10,000 bond. Jackson is due in court October 3.
