(Hartford, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Hartford police suspect a threat made to city schools is a case of swatting.
Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley, in a series of tweets this afternoon, said they’re working with school security to keep any interruption to a minimum.
He says law enforcement has been investigating at least eight such incidents nationwide between yesterday and today.
Foley says they’re vetting an unconfirmed threat to Hartford public schools and that, initially, it appeared to originate internationally.
In the past, police have responded to calls that turned out to be bogus.
