(New Haven, Conn./.CBS Connecticut) – New Haven police are looking for suspects after they say an 18-year-old man was found shot Thursday night.
Officers received the call of a domestic complaint on Elsworth Avenue a little after 7:00 p.m.
It was during their investigation that they reported hearing a shot from the Chapel Street area.
They say two men were seen running across the street. One of the men was detained but the other got away, police said.
It was during the search that police say they found 18-year-old Derrick Smith of New Haven. He’d been suffering from wounds to his thigh and abdomen.
Smith was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital where he’s in stable condition.
Police did find a revolver near where Smith was located.
They’re currently looking for a man with a medium black complexion about 5-foot-9. He is thin and wore his hair in short braids.
Officers say the person of interest was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black or dark blue jeans.
