NEW HAVEN, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – A Clinton man is accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill his ex-wife. Federal authorities say James Erik Godiksen, 54, was in fact communicating over the last week with an undercover agent.
Federal prosecutors say Godiksen provided the agent with his ex-wife’s physical description, phone number, home address, place of work, and the route she typically drove to work– along with a “down payment” of $80 to buy a knife. If the would-be hit man encountered the ex-wife’s current boyfiend, kill him, too, Godikson allegedly told the agent.
Godikson was arrested on Wednesday. He faces a federal count of murder for hire, which carries a maximum prison term of ten years.
