Suspect Has Foot Run Over During Attempted Hold Up

(Branford, Conn.CBS Connecticut) – Branford police are charging a man after they say he had his foot run over by the alleged victim he attempted to rob at an ATM this morning.

Police say 56-year-old Anthony Gambardella was found lying in front of the ATM.

According to police, Gambardella approached the victim’s car, demanding money and implying he had a gun.

The victim took off from the ATM when Gambardella allegedly reached into her car and attempted to steal her pocketbook, after being told the money had already been deposited.

Gambardella was treated for a foot injury.  He faces charges of robbery, threatening, and breach of peace.

He’s being held on $25,000 bond.
