NEW LONDON, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – Three city residents are under arrest on charges that they attacked a 58-year-old man Friday night.
Police say the victim exchanged words with one of the suspects at a convenience store on Broad Street, and the confrontation turned physical. Police say Rachell Garcia, 25; Domonique Shankle, 28; and Joseph Mendoza, 30; attacked the victim– following him on West Street until he sought refuge in an apartment at 78 West Street.
Police say Garcia kicked open the front door and the three continued to assault the man until police were called around 9:30 p.m.
The victim was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital with multiple contusions.
The three suspects were arrested on first-degree assault and other charges– each held on $50,000 bonds.
Police say Mendoza was also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell after officers found 8.7 grams of pot on him.
The incident remains under investigation.
