Man Accused Of Strangling, Threatening Girlfriend

(Vernon, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Vernon police are charging a man after they say he strangled his girlfriend early this morning and threatened to kill her.

The call came in just before 5:00 a.m.

The woman in the apartment at the Park West complex told police 23-year-old Tyree Alford was intoxicated and choked her.

Upon arrival, officers found the New York City man outside, shirtless, agitated and highly intoxicated, and yelling at officers, they say.

Responding officers say Alford initially resisted arrest and had to be tackled to the ground.

It was then he was found to be armed with a knife with a 7-inch blade.

Alford had apparently returned to the woman’s apartment intoxicated.

He’s being held $150,000 bond, facing strangulation, unlawful restraint, and other offenses. He’s due in court in Rockville on Monday.
