Hartford Public Works Employee Charged In Shooting

HARTFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – A City of Hartford public works employee has been charged in connection with a shooting at a city convenience store in July.

Stacy Asberry, 31, exchanged gunfire with a second suspect who has not yet been charged at the Blue Five Corners convenience store at 214 Westland Street on July 6, according to police.

Asberry is charged with first-degree attempted assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, possessing weapons in a motor vehicle, and first-degree reckless endangerment. Police say Asberry has five previous Hartford arrests.

Asberry is on unauthorized, unpaid leave from his job with the city, according to authorities.
