Job Cuts Hit Sikorsky

STRATFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – Helicopter maker Sikorsky has announced that 109 Connecticut employees are being laid off.

The job reductions are part of 150 announced by Sikorsky parent company Lockheed Martin on Tuesday.

“Although difficult, this action is necessary to ensure we remain competitive in the marketplace, secure future business opportunities, and keep our infrastructure appropriately aligned with customer demands,” said Sikorsky spokesman Paul Jackson in a written statement.

Sikorsky, based in Stratford, employs approximately 8,000 people in Connecticut.
