Man Charged In Boat Theft

(Milford, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Milford police are charging a man after an investigation earlier this year into the theft of a boat valued at $30,000.

It was on April 2 the department a larceny complaint surrounding a 2002 Maxum 2900-SE from the Village Marina in Bridgeport Avenue.

Police say 24-year-old Chrisopher Fiore of Trumbull is facing charges.

The investigation determined that Fiore was running Titan Marine Group, LLC from the marina and that he’d fraudulently taken ownership of the vessel through the state Department of Motor Vehicles.

Detectives say Fiore told them the boat was abandoned on the marina’s property, after which Fiore allegedly removed the owner’s name after filing fraudulent paper work with both DMV and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Fiore then sold the boat to someone else, according to police.

He’s charged with larceny, forgery, and conspiracy.
