(New Britain, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – New Britain police have a man in custody in connection with a shooting earlier this month.
Under arrest is 39-year-old Kunta Kinte Cupe of Branford.
Officers say around 8 p.m. on August 19 they were dispatched to Arch Street on a report of shots fired.
They later found a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
She was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police obtained a warrant for Cupe’s arrest and he was picked up Friday night near the Meriden/Berlin town line.
He faces a number of charges including assault and criminal possession of a firearm.
Bond was set at three-quarters-of a-million dollars and he’s due in court in New Britain on Monday.
