(CBS Connecticut) — The city of Hartford turns down an offer of a loan to get Dunkin’ Donuts Stadium finished.
Mayor Luke Bronin says he appreciates the Yard Goats’ offer of a loan, but Bronin the best result for the city would be to get the developers’ insurance company to take on the financial burden of finishing the ball field.
Arch Insurance is still reviewing the construction project, to determine if it will agree to take on responsibility for the project.
The Yard Goats previously said it looked like the city lacked the money to finish the building.
The team has said it lost more than a million dollars because it missed all of its home games at the ballpark this season.
The project was plagued with construction problems, and missed deadlines that were repeatedly extended.
