CT Labor Department: Job Gains In July

(Wethersfield, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – There’s some encouraging news on the jobs front in Connecticut.

The state Labor Department says Connecticut added 1,700 jobs to the rolls for the month of July.

That brought the unemployement rate down a tenth of a percentage point from June, to 5.7 percent.

This also comes after the June gains were revised downward from 7,900 to 5,800.

Andy Condon, director of the Labor Department’s office of research, says it’s good news in that the labor force increased and they saw a decline in the unemployment rate for the first time since last August…
