Woman Sentenced On Embezzlement Charge

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – A Connecticut woman has been sentenced to prison for embezzling more than $840,000 from the credit union where she worked as a loan manager.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 43-year-old Pamela Mallory, of Enfield, was sentenced Wednesday to 21 months behind bars and ordered to pay full restitution.

Mallory pleaded guilty in May to federal embezzlement.

Prosecutors say Mallory took the money from five home equity lines of credit that she had opened in the name of a customer at the Windsor-Locks-based 360 Federal Credit Union.

Prosecutors say the customer wasn’t aware of the loans.

They say Mallory made interest payments on the lines of credit from her own checking account to avoid detection and used the proceeds from the embezzlement to pay her own creditors.
