STRATFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut and AP) – Connecticut State Police are investigating after a Bridgeport police officer shot and injured a woman driving a car that had been reported stolen.
State police say Bridgeport officers attempted to stop the vehicle at about 10 p.m. Sunday, but the driver fled into neighboring Stratford and police pursued.
At that point one pursuing officer fired at least one shot from a department issued handgun, striking the driver. She was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The officer was not hurt.
The suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Josephine Cepda of Bridgeport.
The officer’s name has not yet been released.
