(CBS Connecticut) – Plans for a casino at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks have been revealed by the developer of a casino in Springfield, Mass., which the airport casino would be built to compete with.
MGM Resorts International recently won release of the documents from the Connecticut Airport Authority, in a case before the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission. MGM Executive Vice President Alan Feldman says the scope of the proposed casino is massive.
“Calling this a ‘satellite casino’ – which is how they all referred to this in public – is like calling the Grand Canyon a hole in the ground,” said Feldman.
Feldman says there should have been an opportunity for the public to weigh in on the proposal.
Plans call for Connecticut’s third casino to be operated jointly by the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan Tribes. MGM has fought the casino plans, arguing it and other groups have been improperly shut out of the process.
The casino plans are far from a done deal.
