State Police Investigate Chaplin Robbery, Burglary

CHAPLIN, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – State police are investigating a robbery at a Chaplin convenience store Thursday morning and an overnight burglary at a bar next door.

Around 6:30 a.m., troopers say a man walked up to the counter at the Stop & Go convenience store on Route 6, implied he had a weapon, and demanded money from the cash register. No weapon was displayed. Police say the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash on a green, sport-style motorcycle heading westbound on Route 6.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’8” to 5’11,” with a beard and stocky build, wearing sunglasses, a black long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, black sneakers and a black knit skull cap.

Troopers later determined that the adjacent Bach Dor Café was burglarized overnight.

Police said it was unclear if both crimes were linked.

Anyone with information on either case is urged to call state police at 860-799-4900 or text TIP711 with the information to 274637.
