(CBS Connecticut) — A onetime superintendent of schools in Hebron was given a suspended sentence and probation Monday.
At the proceeding in Rockville Superior Court, the judge decided that Eleanor Cruz will avoid serving any jail time.
Cruz apologized, when she spoke to the court.
The judge ordered Cruz to disclose her conviction, if she applies for any new jobs.
Cruz pleaded guilty to taking more than $10,000 from the school system, by charging personal expenses to a school credit card.
Her lawyer says some of the charges happened when Cruz accidentally used the wrong credit card.
Cruz was also superintendent in Plymouth.
