(CBS Connecticut)– Police say two people were shot during an attempted holdup in a Milford parking garage Sunday — one was a member of a group of intended victims of the robbery. The other was one of the robbers, shot by another member of the group.
Police say the group had left a local restaurant when they were approached by two suspects, one armed with a handgun, demanding their personal belongings. (See earlier story) The armed suspect discharged the firearm. striking one of the group members in the neck.
Police say at that point, another member of the group pulled out his own firearm and fired, striking the armed suspect. The second man fled. Police recovered both weapons at the scene.
The wounded suspect and the victim were both taken to a local hospital. The victim was treated and released. Ths suspect is hospitalized in serious condition. He’s identified as 23-year-old Rumone Richard of Bridgeport, held on half a million dollars bond, charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery, conspiracy, firearms charges and assault. The second suspect remains at large.
