Virginia Man Charged For Torching Brother’s Haddam Home

HADDAM, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ A Portsmouth, Virginia man admitted to police he set fire to his brother’s Haddam home Thursday morning.

Fifty-year-old Ronald Carlson turned himself into police and has been charged with first-degree arson and third-degree burglary. Bond is set at $500,000 and Carlson will appear in court when medically possible, according to multiple reports.

The Candlewood Road home was empty when Carlson burned it to the ground around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

He was taken to Shoreline Clinic in Westbrook to be treated for burns on his arms and face and later transferred to Bridgeport Hospital’s Burn Unit.

There’s no further threat to the community and the investigation is ongoing.
