School Bus Driver Among Pair Arrested In Heroin Bust

(CBS Connecticut) _ Two people were arrested in a heroin bust on Thursday, one of them employed as a school bus driver.

Search and seizures warrants were executed simultaneously at two separate homes in Vernon and Manchester around 6 a.m. Thursday in a heroin sting.

Eventually arrested was Jorge Aviles, 28, of 15 Park West Dr., Vernon, and his girlfriend, Ashley Byrdsong, 29, of Apt. 3D, 360 Oakland St., Manchester.

Aviles is employed as a school bus driver for the DATTCO bus company.

Both were charged with a number of possession and sell charges involving heroin with surety bonds set at $150,000.

In total, seized was a .45 cal handgun, 20 bags of heroin and packaging material from the Vernon address and 250 bags of heroin, $187 in cash and a .40 cal handgun (found on Aviles), seized from the Manchester residence.
