NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut state police have shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in New Haven after a crash involving two tractor-trailers and a car. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and a second suffered serious injuries.
State police say the accident happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. Wednesday between exits 45 and 46, all southbound lanes were closed to extricate the victims from the wreckage, and for accident reconstruction.
The accident caused major traffic backups southbound during the morning commute and also caused northbound congestion.
Traffic was being diverted off the highway at Exit 46.
